2012 Couples Contest

The time has finally arrived! I am SO excited to see the turnout for this contest and I can't wait to see how these next couple weeks of voting go. There is a bit of time to get votes in, but make sure that you do get them in! Now just in case you need a reminder-

How to Vote:

Voting will begin today, January 25, 2012 and end on February 5, 2012 at 23:59. Everyone can vote twice! There is a poll at the bottom where you can vote (once per computer, so if you want to hit up every computer you can, that's up to you). There is also an album on the Leilani Photography page on Facebook called "2012 Couples Contest" that also has each photo/story for each couple where you need to comment "vote" to have it count towards the couple's votes (simply clicking "like" on the picture will not count!). Make sure you comment under the photo and not the album or the couple's link to the picture. You are able to vote for more than one couple, but duplicate comments on a single picture will be deleted. Participants and voters must "like" Leilani Photography to vote. Invite anyone you would like to vote in both places! The winner will be posted February 6th on the blog and will be notified by email as well.

The winning couple gets a FREE photo session with Leilani Photography and 30% off prints and products!
Now on to the couples!

Austin + Alaina
We met our freshman year of high school, in 2003, in Geography class. Throughout the 4 years of high school, Austin used to ask me out on dates or to hang out with him outside of school. I always told him "We're just friends, it's not like that between us." I remember one day he told me, "Just wait, one day you'll say yes." And one day I did. We started officially dating July 8, 2011. The best part about us as a couple is, we're best friends! Everyday is just another excuse for one of us to laugh so hard we almost pee our pants. I (Alaina) am a pre-school teacher and current medical student, and Austin is a Police Officer for Bunnell. We have completely different lives and life styles, but I think that's what makes us such an awesome team. I get to see life from his point of view, the tougher more serious side of it, and he gets to see it from mine...the sweeter more compassionate side. I love knowing that my best friend is my partner and teammate, not only in the hard times but also in the good times. We both have flaws and weaknesses, but what one lacks the other doesn't, and we end up balancing eachother out. I couldn't have hand picked a better guy to be completely in love with, so I'm glad God took care of that for me!

Billy + Electra
My husband and I were just married in November and have two awesome little boys named Ayden & Liam. We both grew up not really having a childhood and have checkered pasts and we're unique because we're everything our parents never were; we broke the cycle. He's my best friend, my lover, my soul mate, and the BEST father I could ever ask of for the boys <3

Justin + Catherine
We met at Dunkin Donuts on A1A in Daytona Beach a few years ago while working, but barely said two words to each other at that point in time. Last year we were both still with the company and I was working events at that location. We swapped numbers in case he needed me to go into work early (he was by that point in time a shift manager and I was a crew member). We still had no intentions at that point in time as any more than co-workers, but after a few text messages and talking almost daily for close to two weeks our intentions had changed. We were now considering being friends, but fate played its hand. My now ex-boyfriend wasn't treating me well and Justin was there to catch me and make me feel like I was a different person. We hung out and had our first date in St. Augustine and I felt completely different than I had with anyone else. A few days and several hundred text messages later, I knew that I wouldn't be happy unless he was mine. I eventually moved stores completely and everyone started finding out about our off limits relationship, though we denied it to everyone we knew it wouldn't be long before we were in some serious trouble. I found a new job at the parking garage in Daytona Beach and put in my notice at Dunkin two weeks prior to the schedule being released for my 22nd birthday weekend for which we had planned on going to Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. I ended up walking out on my two weeks notice to save his job, good thinking on my part because otherwise two days before my birthday after having paid for our whole trip earlier in the week he would've been let go when our boss found out the truth about our relationship. We've been through roomates from hell, a spoiled 10 month old miniature pinscher who thinks the world is his playground, and four vehicles in the last six months (a '97 eclipse that we didn't have time or money for in August that ended up getting towed, a '91 honda crx that we blew the engine on coming home from the gas station the day we got it, an '85 ford f150 that had a bad tranny when we got it, pulled a tranny from LKQ and put it in only to have it go bad right after the warranty went on it, and now we are working on restoring a '82 honda civic) through everything we have continued working as a team, we support eachother in everyway possible.

Jason + Sue
My name is Sue (age 30) and I am married to Jason (29) who has just returned home from Baghdad Iraq.  He was gone for 13 months total between training and reintegration.  We have been married for 4 1/2 years and on February 16th, we will be together 8 years.  Before deploying to Iraq, Jason was an over the road trucker.  In our 8 years together, we may have only been in the same home a total of 3 1/2 years with all of his traveling.  We met each other as I was getting ready to move back home, and we clicked.  We have been together since the day we met.  We are both currently in school and working hard to give our family a better future.

Kevin + Chylsie
Kevin and I have only been together for just two short years but it seems like we’ve been in love for much longer. Since the day we met, many years ago, we both sparked each other’s interest but never pursued anything more until the timing was right. Our love and relationship is unique in the way that every aspect of our lives together has been completely backwards and untraditional. First, we moved in together, then began dating, started a family, and are now engaged to be married. The events in our lives haven’t unfolded in the order we had envisioned them, and we know for some this is frowned upon, but we wouldn’t have had it any other way. Our lives together have just begun and we’ve already been blessed with so much love. We adore one another so much and fall more in love each day.

So there they are! Remember the voting closes at midnight on February 5th, so get your friends and family to vote! Good luck to all the couples!
